President Maithripala Sirisena has urged envoys from Muslim countries to ease travel advisories which were imposed on Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks.
The President had made this request during a meeting with Ambassadors and High Commissioners of 16 Islamic countries at the Presidential Secretariat this afternoon.
During the meeting, Mr. Sirisena had also requested these countries to continue providing their financial assistance to the Sri Lankan government, the President's Media Division said.
He had also stated that he would implement a mechanism to protect the people from being affected due to certain election-oriented hate speeches made by some politicians.
Meanwhile, the foreign envoys representing the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation had said that they would condemn terrorism under any circumstances.
These envoys were from the following countries - Turkey, Malaysia, Pakistan, UAE, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Qatar, Maldives, Iraq, Libya, Iran, and Oman.
