Presidents meets representatives of leftist parties
A meeting between President Maithripala Sirisena and a group of representatives of the Polit Bureaus of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka and Lanka Sama Samaja Party held at the President’s Official Residence yesterday.
As the present political environment of the country, proposed amendments to the Constitution and the future political affairs were main focus in the meeting, President Sirisena recalled the longstanding political relationship between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the leftist parties,
The Communist Party leader, D.E.W.Gunasekera, Ven. Baddegama Samitha Thero, Lanka Sama Samaja Party Leader Prof. Tissa Vitharana, General Secretary of the UPFA, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera and others participated at this event.

SLAF Bell 212 crashes into Maduru Oya
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
