Principal arrested on bribery charges

The Principal of Sanghabodhi Vidyalaya in Nittambuwa has been arrested by officials from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs.50,000 to admit a student to the school.

Bribery Commission sleuths arrested the principal at the school premises this morning as he was in the process of accepting the bribe, said Director (Investigations) of the Bribery Commission, SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri.

The suspect is due to be produced before the Attanagalle Magistrate's Court.
