The Government has decided to allow private hospitals to carryout tests to determine if persons are infected with coronavirus, under strict conditions of the Health Ministry.
Director General of Health Services Dr Anil Jasinghe said that among the conditions would be that the Health Ministry should be kept informed of such tests and should convey the results back to the Ministry.
The test could be carried out only on patients admitted to the hospital.
He said that the private hospitals should not charge more than Rs 6,000 for the test.
Uptodate the governemnt had restricted private hospitals from carrying out these tests.
