Private buses and Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses operating from Hatton to Kandy have staged a strike action today (May 24).
The strike action has been staged since buses were denied entry to the Nawalapitiya bus depot yesterday in order to pick up passengers.
Bus owners operating from the Hatton bus depot to Kandy urged that they should be allowed to pick up passengers from the Nawalapitiya bus depot.
It is reported that buses operating along this route generally travel 67 trips on a daily basis.
The strike is expected to continue until the authorities intervene in order to resolve this issue.
