Dambulla police have launched an investigation after charred human remains were found from an agricultural well in the Ihalaarawwala area.
Police said the remains of a charred spinal cord and bone fragments were discovered at the location yesterday. Subsequent investigations have verified that the remains were human. They had been burnt using tyres. A further search of the area revealed a mamotee blade and two empty liquor bottles.
The Dambulla Magistrate has conducted a magisterial inquiry into the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
