The opposition led by Samagi Jana Balawegaya staged a protest inside parliament chambers today when the government submitted the proposed 20th Amendment.
Pinning a sticker that says ‘No to 20A’ on their shirts, the opposition MPs protested vehemently accusing the proposed amendment would lead the country into autocracy and dictatorship. The amendment was submitted to the house by Justice Minister Ali Sabry.
