The report of the Delimitation Committee for the Delimitation of Electorates in Provincial Councils in Parliament was rejected outright by Parliament with all 139 votes.
Members of the UNP, SLFP-Maithri Faction, Joint Opposition and TNA voted against the report rejecting the holding provincial council elections under the mixed electoral system. JVP was absent in the vote.
The vote came at the end of a day long debate.
