The Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) investigating the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks has written to President Maithripala Sirisena asking him to testify before it.
The letter inviting the President to give a date convenient for him to testify had been sent to the President late last week.
If the President accepts the PSC’s invitation, he will likely be the final witness to testify before the Committee as the PSC is now already in the process of preparing its final report.
However, the President publicly stated during a meeting of media heads in June that he would not testify before the PSC even if summoned.
The term of the PSC was due to end on August 23. However its term has been further extended till September 30 for the Committee to finish drafting its final report.
