The Power and Energy Ministry has requested the public to avoid wastage in electricity use due to the prevailing drought conditions in the country.
Ministry Director Sulakshana Jayawardena pointed out that the water levels in reservoirs surrounding power stations have decreased due to the heat.
He added that the public should use electricity carefully since the heat is expected to remain until October or November.
