Match boxes, lighters, and flammable items will not be allowed to be brought into the premises of the Sri Dalada Maligawa temple in Kandy, police said.
According to the police, a restriction was imposed on bringing in flammable items since the main building of the temple is constructed out of wood.
However, a special area has been allocated within the premises of the temple to light oil lamps and incense sticks which will be provided at the temple.
A special counter has also been set-up outside the temple to allow devotees to leave their bags outside the temple.
The Chief Custodian of the Temple, Pradeep Nilanga, has requested the public to extend their support to carry out the security arrangements with ease.
