As a precautionary measure during the current COVID-19 situation, the general public has been advised to strictly adhere to COVID-19 prevention guidelines when visiting patients admitted to hospitals.
Issuing a statement, Acting Director General of Health Services Dr S. Sridharan urged members of the public visiting hospitals to see patients to adhere to guidelines such as maintaining one-metre social distancing, handwashing and wearing face masks.
The Acting DG also adviced the general public to minimize their visits to hospitals to see admitted patients and to hand over any supplies by appropriate methods without directly meeting patients.
Health authorities are also advicing patients to visit the nearest hospital to seek essential health services.
