Public is requested to check for genuine features of currency notes when purchasing goods or exchanging notes as fake currency is being circulated in the country.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the Criminal Investigation Department arrested a person in Anuradhapura on Friday (25) with a large stock of fake currency notes.
“This is the third incident reported within two weeks’ time with offences of printing fake currency notes. There is a possibility of fake currency notes being circulated,” he said.
