Update: Police Chief Pujith Jayasundara who was arrested today (Oct 1) for allegedly threatening a police officer has been granted bail by the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court.
Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake ordered the accused to be released on two surety bails worth Rs 200,000 each.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had arrested Mr. Jayasundara for verbally abusing a police official in an elevator at the Police Headquarters in 2017.

Pujith arrested for threatening police officer
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today (Oct 1) for allegedly threatening a police officer in 2017.
The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court in June this year instructed the CID to conduct a probe against Jayasundara for verbally abusing a police official in an elevator at the Police Headquarters.
During a previous hearing, the CID informed court that Jayasundara could be charged under the Penal Code for harassing and threatening an official.
IGP Jayasundara is due to be produced before the Fort Magistrates Court today (October 1).
