The Colombo High Court today decided to take up on December 17 the bail applications filed by former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara.
The court issued notice on all respondents, including the Criminal Investigation Department Director and the Attorney General, to appear before the court during the next hearing.
Mr Fernando and Mr Jayasundara have been charged with the offence of failure to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks despite receiving intelligence warnings.
The High Court, on October 9, ordered the defendants to be remanded, after overturning a ruling issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court to release them on bail.
