The Puttalam Base Hospital has commenced initial preparations to deliver medicines to some 20, 000 patients who had attended the hospital's clinics, Hospital Director Dr Sumith Attanayake stated.
The programme has been launched bearing in mind the difficulties faced by patients who attended about 12 clinics at the Puttalam Hospital, Dr Attanayake added.
He revealed that the hospital staff had visited the patients in their villages and obtained their diagnosis and medical prescriptions. The diagnosis cards and the prescriptions are then checked by pharmacists at the hospital who then issue and pack the medicines required to be delivered to the patients in their homes.
