Railway trade unions have called off their indefinite strike which entered its 12th day today (Oct 7).
Indika Dodangoda, Chairman of the Locomotive Engine Operators Union said that this decision had been taken following talks with officials at the Transport Ministry.
Unionists had engaged in the strike action citing salaries and grading anomalies.
President Maithripala Sirisena, during a meeting with unionists, had instructed them to call off the strike. The President had said that he would intervene to resolve their issues once the strike is called off.
