Railway trade unions have decided to commence a strike action by citing unresolved grading anomalies from midnight today (Jun 19).
The unionists claim that the cabinet paper which had been passed to resolve such anomalies has not been implemented yet.
Railway drivers, Controllers, Regulators, and Superintendents will join the strike, Railway Controllers' Association Chairman Lal Ariyaratne said.
However, State Transport Minister Ashok Abeysinghe said that the Ministry will hold talks with the trade unions this afternoon.
Arrangements would also be made to organise a discussion between the unionists and the officials of the Transport and Finance Ministries, he said.
