Rainy condition is expected to enhance to some extent in the south-western part of the country from today, Department of Meteorology said in its weather forecast. "Heavy rains upto 100mm expected in Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Gampaha, Colombo and Galle districts until June 27,"
Accordingly showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
"Fairly heavy showers (above 50 mm) can be expected at some places, particularly in Colombo, Rathnapura, Kegalle and Kaluthara districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at few places in the Uva province and Batticaloa and Ampara districts after 2.00 p.m," the weather report said.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
