Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne was granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate's Court today (Dec 30).
Senaratne was remanded until today in connection to a controversial news conference during the run-up to the presidential elections this year.
The court had ordered the parliamentarian to be released on two surety bails worth Rs 500,000 while handing him a travel ban.
The accused, who is currently hospitalised, had also been instructed to provide a statement to the Criminal Investigation Department, after being discharged from hospital.
The news briefing organised by Senaratne was attended by two persons which included an individual claiming to be a "white van" driver during alleged abductions before 2015.
