In a special video message, UNP Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe thanked Sri Lankan citizens for standing with democracy and preventing the country from sliding into a corrupt dictatorship.
He also urged the people not to give up and pledged to fight alongside the people for a cause bigger than himself, MPs or political parties.
A short while later, the official car of the Commander of the Navy, bearing plate NAHA 5006, departed from Navy House, Longdon Place, Colombo 7.
