Ratnapura Town going under water

It is reported that the Ratnapura town is gradually going underwater due to rising floodwaters. Rescue efforts have been launched to evacuate those trapped due to flooding.

Authorities have said there is currently a shortage of boats in the area and have requested assistance. 

Meanwhile, water levels of the Nilwala, Kelani and Kalu Rivers are continuing to rise. Those living in low lying areas along the rivers have been advised to be vigilent and those in flood prone areas have been urged to evacuate.
