Ravi arrives at Bond Commission

Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake arrived at the Commission of Inquiry into the Central Bank Bond Issue a short while ago. 

Minister Karunanayake was issued summons to appear before the Commission twice before, but his lawyers informed that he would not be able appear due to urgent Government duties. 

However, his lawyer assured the Commission last week that the Minister would appear before the Commission today (August 2).

The Bond Commission is seeking to question the Minister regarding information he may have about the controversial Treasury Bond Issue of the Central Bank. Karunanayake was Finance Minister during the time period that the controversial Bond Issue took place.
