Public and the motorists travelling along the Badulla-Colombo main road have been advised to use alternative roads today and tomorrow due to a repairing of the bridge no 99/06 in Ratnapura.
According to reports the repairing will be carried out from 11.00.p.m. to 6.00.a.m. as informed by the Chief Engineer (Project) of RDA, Ratnapura.
Accordingly, the traffic from Colombo to Badulla, and Embilipitiya and from Badulla, and Embilipitiya to Colombo should use alternative roads during this period.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
