A report has been called for regarding the overtime payments of the employees in the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).
Power & Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera instructed its General Manager to immediately submit a detailed report on this matter.
The Minister called for a report following claims that more than Rs 150 million was paid CPC employees as over time payments.
Further, it was reported that these payments have been made despite there being a large group of additional employees idling without any work.
It seems that even though there are adequate employees for its operations, a huge sum due to the government had been lost due to mismanagement.
Hence, the minister has further instructed the General Manager to submit the particular report by tomorrow (20 December) to make the factual situation clear and to implement future actions.
