A report on regulating Arabic Schools/ Madrasa's was submitted by Muslim Religious Affairs Minister Abdul Haleem to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today (May 06).
Regulatory laws which have been implemented in foreign countries along with the Pirivena Education Act had been studied during the process of compiling the report. According to the report, all Madrasa's would be regulated and must abide by a common law for all educational institutions.
This report will be submitted before the cabinet following consultations with the Attorney General and the Legal Draftsman, the Prime Minister's office said.
Ministers Sagala Ratnayake, non-cabinet minister Harsha de Silva, and State Minister Eran Wickremaratne were also present during this occassion.
