A flight from Auckland to Dubai via Sydney has reportedly been diverted to Colombo, the New Zealand Herald reported. A Herald reader said a passenger on the Emirates flight reported an "emergency landing" took place "because of smoke in the hold" but this was not officially confirmed. The FlightRadar site said flight 413 left Sydney at 12.30am New Zealand time and was diverted to the Sri Lankan capital. The FlightAware website also said flight 413 was diverted to Colombo. Flights from Sydney to Dubai usually took about 14 hours. Another source said smoke and fumes were in the lower deck of the plane, believed to be an Airbus A380-800. An Emirates spokesman was investigating the incident the report said,.
