Residents of the Pannipitiya area have been affected due to an unscheduled interruption of water supply that has been in effect since last night.
According to reports the water cut has disrupted the daily activities of residents, state bodies and even private companies in the Maharagama, Pannipitiya, Araliya Uyana, Depaanama, Kottawa, and Kallagoda. Area residents also claim that water supply has been disrupted intermittently over the last few days.
Meanwhile, an engineer attached to the Maharagama Water Supply Division of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) told local media that water supply was being interrupted due to ongoing repairs on certain pipelines.
However, he noted that this issue would be resolved within the next few days, and also said that the water supply will continue to be provided during the evenings.
Further, he pointed out that restoration and repair work on the pipelines were being affected due to the ongoing power cuts experienced in these areas.
