Road closure along Matara-Tangalle Road

The Matara- Tangalle road in the vicinity of the Sri Vishnu temple in Devinuwara will be closed for traffic due to its Esala perahera from August 8 - 14, police said.

Accordingly, the road will be closed during the following hours :

• August 8 - August 12 : 3 pm to 9 pm
• August 13 and 14 : 3 pm to 11 pm

The public have been advised to use the following alternative routes during this time period:

Vehicles travelling from Matara to Kataragama

Reach Kekanadura through Yatiyana Road, then travel along Wehelle Road, take the right turn onto Naoutunna Road from Viyanoruwa junction, and finally take the left turn from the Talagalle vocational training centre.

Travel across the Hakmana road towards Beliatta, then reach Tangalle and head towards Kataragama

Heavy vehicles travelling from Kataragama to Matara

Pass Gandara, take the right turn from Kaju Gas junction, travel across the Kurunduwatta road, take the left turn from Kongas junction, and head towards Matara from the Meddawatta junction.

Light vehicles travelling from Kataragama to Matara

Travel through the road adjacent to the Devinuwara Divisional Secretariat, take the left turn to Kongas junction, and reach Matara after passing through Meddawatta junction.
