Road closures in Modara, Kotahena, Bloemendhal

Certain roads in the Modara, Kotahena, and Bloemendhal police divisions would be closed for traffic starting from today (Sept 6) due to a water pipe laying project, police said.

Accordingly, the road from St. James Junction in Muthuwella Mawatha to De La Salle junction will be closed from 10 pm today until 5 am tomorrow. Police have advised drivers to use Aluthmawatha road during this period.

Further, the road between Mayfield Lane to Wasala Road will be closed during the following times ;

  • 10 pm today until 5 am on September 9
  • 10 pm on September 13 until 5 am on September 16.

Drivers have been advised to travel through Wasala Road during this time period.

In addition, the road between George R. De Silva Mawatha to Bonjeen Road will be closed during the following times:

  • 10 pm today until 5 am on September 9
  • 10 pm on September 13 until 5 am on September 16.
  • 10 pm on October 04 until 5 am on October 7

Police said that Bonjeen Road could be used as an alternative route.

Meanwhile, the road from Wasala Road junction until Wall’s Lane would also be closed for traffic during the following times:

  • 10 pm today until 5 am on September 9
  • 10 pm on September 13 until 5 am on September 16
  • 10 pm on October 20 until 5 am on October 23

Vehicles travelling to Madampitiya would be able to travel across Prince of Wales Avenue, reach the Ingurukade Junction, pass through Thotalanga junction and reach their destination.

Police added that the road from St. James Junction until Bo Gaha Junction would also be closed during the following times

  • 10 pm today until 5 am on September 9
  • 10 pm on September 13 until 5 am on September 16
  • 10 pm on September 20 until 5 am on September 23
  • 10 pm on September 27 until 5 am on September 30

Vehicles can travel across Aluthmawatha Road after reaching it through Wall's Lane and also travel through Kimbula Ela Road by reaching it through Joseph Dias Mawatha.
