Families whose houses were damaged completely due to the inclement weather will be given a compensation of Rs 2.5 million, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.
“Persons affected by damages to their houses should immediately contact the Grama Niladhari offices and Divisional Secretariats in their respective areas," DMC Deputy Director Pradeep Kodippili said.
He noted that seven houses have been fully damaged while 314 had been damaged partially due to the inclement weather which has affected more than 14,000 persons leaving five dead.
Compensation to partially damaged houses will be granted after an assesment carried out by District Secretariats, Kodippili added.
