The long awaited Right to Information (RTI) Bill was unanimously approved by Parliament today.
The Bill was passed after two days of debate during which the majority of law makers spoke on the benefits the Bill would have for the public of the country.
The new law provides for the public the right of access to information so that the people of Sri Lanka would be able to more fully participate in public life through combating corruption and promoting accountability and good governance.
