Ruins of religious places of worship which were previously submerged in the Kotmale Dam have begun to surface due to the receding water levels.
The ruins were identified as those belonging to the ancient Kotmale town which had been submerged during the construction of the dam in 1979.
Water levels in the Kotmale Dam have been dropping due to the current weather.
