The Colombo High Court has announced that the ruling on Parliamentarian Kumara Welgama's revision petition in a case filed against him will be delivered on September 12.
Mr. Welgama has been accused of causing Rs 3.2 million in losses to the government by appointing a Deputy Chairman to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) contrary to the Transport Act as Transport Minister in 2010.
The Bribery and Corruption Commission had filed a case against the former minister at the Colombo Chief Magistrate's court before the accused had filed a revision petition at the High Court.
Accordingly, High Court judge Gihan Kulatunga had ordered the defendants and the prosecution to make written submissions on September 5 and 10 respectively.
