Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa today (Oct 18) said his government will encourage innovators by offering them new opportunities.
“We as a government will fully support all such endeavours especially in the new technology area,” the New Democratic Front (NDF) presidential candidate said at the Colombo Business Forum.
He pledged to establish a structure that would see efficient decision making of national policies impacting both the economic and socio-political fields.
"We will be scientific, surgical and focused and task oriented when it comes to national policy decision making," Premadasa told the gathering. This he said would be done by obtaining the assistance of economic experts.
The NDF candidate stated that he aims to resolve financial discrepancies in society, by ensuring that economic benefits are distributed equally. However, he stressed that he would also encourage and strengthen the private sector.
“I believe in competitive markets. But I also believe in social justice,” Premadasa remarked.
The presidential candidate also vowed to reform the tax system, and reduce existing taxes, to encourage the growth of private entrepreneurships.
