Parliament's Sub-Committee on Education has taken measures to eliminate salary anomalies in the post of Non-Formal Project Assistant of the Ministry of Education.
Chairperson of the sub-committee, MP Rohini Kumari Wijerathna stated that the gazette notification on the decision will be issued soon. She described resolving this problem, which had been in existence for over 20 years, as a victory for the sub-committee, Parliament's Communications Department stated.
Accordingly, it was also decided to change the title of the post Non-Formal Project Assistant of the education sector to Non-Formal Project Officer. The progress of the Teacher Advisory Service was also taken into discussion at the sub-committee. The Ministry informed the sub -committee that the promotional procedure pertaining to these posts has been prepared and forwarded to the Public Service Commission.
The sub-committee chair further stated that the present salary anomalies of officers and principals who have been recruited to the administrative service on the basis of supernumerary employees will be removed in the future.
The committee was conducted with the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Salaries and Cadre Commission, the Directorate of Establishments and the Public Service Commission.
