Saman Ekanayake, who is a senior Special Grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, was appointed to the post of Secretary to the Prime Minister. He received his appointment letter from President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday. Mr. Ekanayake is a graduate of the University of Peradeniya in Sociology, and he has also obtained a Masters Degree from Post Graduate Institute of Management of Sri Jayewardenepura University on Public Administration. He has served in the Prime Minister’s Office, Department of Government Information, Ministries of Housing, External Affairs, Finance, Youth Affairs and Industries. He has also served in Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur and Sri Lanka High Commission in London. He has also served as Head of Agency in Sri Lanka of the UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlement Programme).
