Schools in Galle, Matara closed tomorrow due to inclement weather
Southern Governor Hemal Gunasekara has issued instructions to close down all schools in the Galle and Matara districts tomorrow (Sept 23) and on Tuesday owing to the inclement weather.
The Meteorological Department has predicted showers exceeding 200 mm in the Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Western Provinces tonight.
Showers measuring more than 75 mm could be experienced in the North Western, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Northern, and Eastern Province, today's weather forecast read.
Accordingly, the Department has warned the public to take precaution from possible instances of lightning and heavy winds which could occur during this period.
