Commenting on Indian government’s recent move to scrap the special status given to its disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir (JK) and partition of the region into states, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the restructuring plan of Indian Union Territory is India’s internal matters.
“I understand Ladakh will finally become a Union Territory. With over 70% Buddhist it will be the first Indian state with a Buddhist majority. The creation of Ladakh and the consequential restructuring are India's internal matters. I have visited Ladakh and it is worth a visit.”, a tweet published from the official Twitter handle of the Prime Minister said today.
