The arrest of drug kingpin 'Makandure Madush' was a result of several search operations carried out by the Police and the STF over the last few months, Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara said.
The Minister of Law and Order said that details pertaining to the search operations could not be divulged since it was done in an undercover manner.
"Makandure Madush was engaged in several underworld and criminal activities while he was in Dubai. We cannot divulge the mechanisms adopted by the Police and the STF which led to the arrest of the suspect. This is a top secret. However, it was due to these efforts that the arrest was made" the Minister remarked.
Speaking further, he said that a red alert was issued on the suspect since he had travelled to Dubai using a fake passport.
"He might have organised a party following the retirement of STF commandant DIG Latheef" Minister Bandara quipped.
