In the case pertaining to the conspiring to misappropriate Rs. 5 million belonging to the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) has been fixed for support by the Colombo High Court on July 09.
This was announced when the case was taken up before High Court Judge R. Munasinghe today (Mar 19).
Former SEC Chairman Nalaka Godahewa and his deputy Manjeera Perera along with the organiser of the Tharunyata Hetak Organisation Ronnie Ibrahim have been named as suspects in the case.
It is alleged that the funds allocated for a youth awareness programme by the SEC were transferred to an account belonging to Premium Sports (Ltd.) by the accused.
Accordingly charges have been filed against the suspects for violating the Public Property Act.
