Security has been tightened around the courts complex in Colombo as the Appeal Court is expected to deliver its verdict on the dual citizenship case against Presidential Candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
Certain Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) members have also entered the court premises.
Civil rights activists Professor Chandragupta Thenuwara and Gamini Viyangoda have petitioned court arguing that Mr Rajapaksa's dual citizenship certificate issued after obtaining Sri Lankan citizenship in 2005 was invalid.
A judge bench comprising Appeal Court President Yasantha Kodagoda, Arjuna Obeysekera, and Mahinda Samayawardana is expected to issue the verdict at 6 pm.
