Seven arrested for capturing photographs while standing on Kiralagala Stupa
Seven South Eastern university students who had captured photographs while standing on top of the historic Kiralagala Stupa, have been taken into custody by the Horowpathana police a short while ago.
The arrest was made after a special police team was deployed to apprehend the suspects who had posted the photographs on social media.
The suspects are currently being transported to the Horowpathana Police station for further investigations.
The photographs which had spurred a controversy on social media platforms over the last few days was brought to the attention of the Archaeological Department.
The Department then took steps to file a complaint at the Horowpathana Police in this regard.
