Seven suspects, including a doctor and her husband, have been arrested for aiding MP Rishad Bathiudeen to evade arrest by the CID have been taken into custody, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
Investigations have revealed that the MP had been first hiding in Kalubowila before being transferred to the location in Dehiwala where he was arrested this morning (19).
Among those arrested is a job agent who helped the MP to hide in Dehiwala. He was arrested in Addalachchenai in the east.A s ecretary of the MP was also arrested from the apartment at Dehiwala with the MP around 3.30 a.m. today (19)
Earlier police had arrested two persons in Wellampitiya who reportedly provided information about the location where the MP was hiding.
Mr Bathiudeen is due to be produced before the Fort Magistrate court after his statement is recorded at the CID.
