Seven suspects involved in the abduction and alleged killing of two businessmen in Rathgama have been further remanded until March 27.
This was announced when the suspects were produced before Galle Magistrate Harshana Kekunuwela today (Mar 13).
The Magsitrate had also granted permission to produce the recovered burnt pieces of cloth and pieces of the victims' mobile phones to the Government Analysts Department after a State Counsel had made a request to that effect.
The State Counsel said during the hearing that the burnt fragments of clothing which were found in the vicinity of the area in which the bodies of the victims were claimed to have been burnt, had belonged to the suspects.
A chief police inspector attached to the Southern Police Special Investigations unit, a police inspector, two sub police inspectors, two constables and a forestry officer have been arrested in connection with the incident.
