Seven trains cancelled so far owing to strike

Seven trains have been cancelled so far today (24) due to a strike action launched by the Locomotive Engineering Operators' Union.  

The Railway Main Control Room stated that the trains cancelled thus far included both long distance trains as well as office trains. 

The union is engaged in a strike action over the decision not to extend the contracts of engine drivers recruited on contract basis. 

They have threatened to intensify their trade union action if talks due to be held this afternoon with railway authorities are unsuccessful.
