Seven South-Eastern university students who were arrested for posing atop the Kiralagal stupa have been released on a bail of Rs 50,000 each.
The students were remanded on January 24 when they were produced before the Kebithigollewa Magistrates' Court.
They have been accused of capturing photographs while posing on top of the historic Kiralagal stupa and later posting them on social media.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
