Sri Lanka Police which was under the perview of the Ministry of Law and Order has been brought under the purview of the Ministry of Defence.
An extraordinary gazette notification issued by President Sirisena announcing the distribution of subjects for respective ministers claims 17 government bodies of which - Armed forces, Civil Security Department, National Cadet Corps, Department of Coast Conservation and the National Media Center will be brought under the Ministry of Defence under President Maithripala Sirisena who is the Minister of Defence.
The Central Bank, State Banks and it’s associated companies, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka have been moved under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs of which Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa is Minister of Finance.
Previously the Central Bank was under the National Policies and Economic Affairs Ministry where Ranil Wickramasinghe was the Minister.
Sri Lankan Airlines & Mihin Lanka previously under the Minister of Public Enterprises is now under Nimal Siripala De Silva who is the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation
