Seventeen suspects including an actress have been remanded until March 08 after they were arrested over the possession of cocaine and another narcotic.
The suspects were arrested yesterday (Mar 03) at a hotel in Polhena, Matara by officers attached to the police crimes prevention division. They were produced before the Matara Magistrates Court today.
Investigations have revealed that the suspects who were residents of various areas had arrived in Matara to attend a beach party. It is believed that some suspects had consumed narcotics at the time of the arrest.
Police are carrying out investigations to determine the method in which the suspects had obtained the narcotics.
