Seven shops were destroyed during a fire which broke out within a two-storied shopping mall in Kaduruwela, Polonnaruwa earlier today (Jan 19).
The fire which erupted on the first floor had engulfed the entire building in flames.
Firemen of the Polonnaruwa Municipal Council, police officers and the general public managed to douse the fire.
The cause for the fire is yet to be determined while the cost of damages to the shop has not been estimated yet.
Polonnaruwa police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
